This is my first post to my 'Thank God It's Monday' blog.

The title says it all. I'm going to post ideas about the way I feel about work. Also about how people in general feel about work. My mission, both personal and professional, in which I'd hope to enroll you, is to create a movement for a Brave New Workplace across corporate America. My vision for the new workplace is that it's so exciting that people say, Thank God It's Monday!

Yes, the way we currently work in corporate America is not fit for humans. The proof? The widly held idea, and expression, of "Thank God It's Friday" is all the proof you need.

Want another? How about the bumper sticker I saw on the back of the car in front of me while driving to work one morning (true story). It said, "A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work." Do you still need more proof?

How can we change this?

People created the workplace and people can change it to make it more humane nad more fun, while ensuring that it stays productive.

That's the challenge.

In what ways can you change the workplace to make it more exciting and more productive at once?

Think of all the innovative ways you can introduce to inspire people, turn managers into mentors, turn colleagues into friends. Create a creative and caring organization where learning is continuous, communication is open, and cooperation is the norm.

I'm looking for ideas and experiences on how to do that. I'll be posting my thoughts on this starting Feb. 2005, and I look forward to hearing from you even before that.

Let's change the culture of work. Let's change corporate America. Let's create the Thank God It's Monday! work culture.
